STANDARD FOUR - HUMAN RESOURCE LEADERSHIP
School executives will ensure that the school is a professional learning community. School executives will ensure that processes and systems are in place that result in the recruitment, induction, support, evaluation, development and retention of a high-performing staff. The school executive must engage and empower accomplished teachers in a distributive leadership manner, including support of teachers in day-to-day decisions such as discipline, communication with parents, and protecting teachers from duties that interfere with teaching. They also must practice fair and consistent evaluation of teachers. The school executive must engage teachers and other professional staff in conversations to plan their career paths and support district succession planning.

During my internship this year I had the opportunity to join and participate in one of the CORE teams at Washington. As the virtual academy coordinator and working with providing technology and support to families I joined the 4CATS team. We met as a team to talk about what we would like to see in a PD, what we should share and provide as tech PD to the staff, and the best way to do that. Then the team presented the tech PD on a workday for staff and received great feedback. At the last meeting, we shared the feedback from staff and then planned what our last PD would like for staff. Above you will find two agenda examples of our meetings lead by a teacher leader and then the presentation slides that were used during the PD for staff.

During my internship, I had the opportunity to screen and interview potential candidates for staff positions ranging from teachers, intervention/support staff to an electives/arts teacher.I was able to go through the entire process for multiple positions with my principal. Below are the questions we used during the interviews. I had the privilege of creating the questions sheet, assigning the interview team to questions, asking questions myself, and setting up google meet invites with the interviewees.

This is the document that is shared with staff with information about evaluation and who will be doing their evaluations/summatives for the year. The ones I have highlighted yellow were evaluations or summatives I was a part of with my Principal and AP. We worked together on the process to evaluate the different standards and create meaningful comments for staff to read. During the post conferences we took the time to reflect on the year, answered questions, talked about artifacts, reviewed improvements staff are working on, and how admin can help support them. For summatives it was a collection of this year's evaluations, data, comments, and the artifacts staff shared. The summative post conferences were about reflecting for the year, reviewing artifacts and the summative, and preparing for next year and what staff would do to continue to grow and learn.
