AMANDA MORTON Washington GT Magnet Elementary School 1000 Fayetteville Street Raleigh, NC 27601 919-896-7960 [email protected] [email protected] |
My name is Amanda Morton and I hold a graduate degree in middle grades science education and will be receiving my Master of School Administration degree from NC State University in May 2021 upon completion of my Principal Residency/Administrative Internship as a NC Principal Fellow. NC State University’s Master of School Administration graduate program is highly selective, and it was designed to develop school leaders for high-needs schools in North Carolina. NC State University was recognized by The University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) as the top principal preparation program in the United States, one of only five principal preparation programs nationally to have ever earned this distinction.
I believe my principal preparation program and administrative internship at Washington Elementary School has greatly prepared me to share my knowledge with your school program and curriculum for maximizing the learning experience for all students and staff. During my principal residency/administrative internship with Wake County Public Schools and Principal Bob Grant at Washington Elementary, I had the opportunity to support a diverse group of students, promote and recruit for a highly effective magnet program, conduct formal and informal staff observations, complete classroom walkthroughs, provide staff with instructional feedback, participate in IEP meetings, and interview and hire new members to the Washington family. I also served on the school leadership team, SIP team, 4th-grade PLT team, student support team, and on the 4C’s core team. When students were in need of behavioral support, I had the opportunity to help create strategic plans with teachers for students and academic and behavioral concerns. To support our school during remote learning, I became the virtual academy coordinator to help create equity and access among all students during this time. This role allowed me to collaborate with families and staff to provide technology, tech support, and highly effective virtual instruction.
These opportunities have enabled me to develop strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills, which allow me to cultivate a supportive learning environment and reinforce the school’s standards, policies, and goals.I am a dedicated and hard-working individual who is passionate about supporting and growing all students and staff. My greatest strength is how I am adept at fostering strong and meaningful relationships with all members of a school community. I am confident that I possess the qualifications and skills needed to establish a positive school culture and growth centered educational program that is conducive to student learning. I believe my diverse skills and experience will allow me to be a valuable contribution to any school community.
